If you want the Status icons back, enable gui.show_status_icon_in_dl_list

To turn off ALL ad related and featured content:
Options>preferences>Advanced...
Turn all these settings to false:

offers.left_rail_offer_enabled/left_rail_offer         
gui.show_plus_upsell
offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled/sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled
bt.enable_pulse
gui.show_notorrents_node
offers.content_offer_autoexec

Goto Options
Untick Show Featured Content
Untick Show Plus information (removes the add at the bottom of the sidebar)
Untick Show Apps
-------------------------------------------------------------

To prioritize the first and the last part of the file:
Options>preferences>Advanced...
(set the value to true)
